Milan advanced in their pursuit of Benjamin Sesko by hosting his agents a couple of weeks ago, but he has progressively gotten more distant ever since. The request to sign him is massive, the competition grows by the day, and RB Leipzig have offered him a new contract.

According to Corriere dello Sport (via Tribuna), his release clause increased to €65M thanks to his numbers this season. In addition, his camp asked for €15M commission. The Rossoneri surely like him but won’t spend that much for any single player.

Arsenal and Chelsea have jumped ahead of Milan in the race for Sesko, but his side isn’t resigned to the idea of losing him just yet. The talks with his entourage are ongoing.

The Rossoneri passed on the opportunity to sign him for a much lower fee when he was at RB Salzburg as they considered him too raw at the time. He has recorded 18 goals this campaign, including 2 in the Champions League and 2 in the DFB Pokal.

Our Take on Milan and Sesko

They might have gotten to him before other sides, but in the end money talks in the transfer market. Despite their wealthy ownership, it’s improbable they’ll shell out more than €45/50M for anybody. On the other hand, that’s enough to acquire Joshua Zirkzee, and they’d need just to convince him without negotiating with any side. It’d be a big black eye for their management to miss out on such a major opportunity.
