Baseggio: AC Milan should've sent De Ketelaere to Atalanta a year earlier

Former Belgium star Walter Baseggio says AC Milan fumbled the management of Charles de Ketelaere.

After a dismal season with Milan, De Ketelaere has been superb for Atalanta on-loan this term.

Baseggio told MilanNews.it: "When he arrived at Milan they asked me if the price was appropriate and I said it was too high. I don't know why Milan didn't loan him straight away.

"Atalanta has freed itself, there are players who play for him and the boy has inserted himself into the context of Serie A. What has been underestimated is that Milan is very different from Brugge which, despite remaining a great club, is still a team of the Belgian championship.

"The best solution was an intermediate stage, sending him to Atalanta a year earlier would have been the best solution."
